WTF is this?

A view of the world through the eyes of a 45 year old gay male living the heart of the Bible Belt. Posts may be about anything from gay news to entertainment to what I ate today. I hope you'll join in the discussion.

There might even be some eye-candy, but I have another blog for more of that sort of thing. If you want the address to that blog, you'll have to contact me to get it!

NY Town Clerk Won’t Sign Same-Sex Wedding Certificates Because They “Go Against God”

Written by Instinct Staff | Tuesday, 28 June 2011

With the euphoric celebration of a victorious Pride weekend behind us, bigotry in the wake of marriage equality legalization is beginning to wash ashore. One city clerk, responsible for signing all marriage licenses in a small upstate town, will protest equality by refusing to sign documents for same-sex couples. Details follow.

Skeletor Says We Will Be Destroyed Because of Gay Marriage

Pat Robertson, who distinctly resembles a skeleton these days (did someone forget to tell him he died?), says that because of the Marriage Equality vote in NY, America has become Sodom and will suffer the wrath of God. Now, bear in mind, he’s been saying shit like this for about, oh, 20 years….ramping it up in the last five or so as dementia sets in. Still, it’s wise for US to be aware that this idiot has followers, lots of them. We may be gaining acceptance, but with people of influence like him around, we are still a LONG way from REAL progress. Remember, everything we’ve won so far can be taken away with one swoop by the Federal Government.

Watch the insanity here:

Open Positions for Bloggers/Writers (no pay)

Since this blog is just in its birth phase, there is a need for good content on just about any topic. If you would be interested in writing about anything on the list below, please send me a sample of your writing, even a proposed initial article. I will review it, see if I think it’s a fit for the site and we’ll go from there. Unfortunately, there is no compensation, but each contributor will have a profile page on the site to promote yourself and someday, if the stars align, maybe we’ll all become well known!

Everything on this site will be rated up to R…in other words, no nudity basically. Pretty much anything else is fair game. I will reserve the right to edit or reject any content that goes on the site. I expect good grammar, spelling, etc. I don’t want to have to do too much editing to your work.

Here are some of the topics I would like to see covered:

Gay Teen Issues
Transgender Issues (we have a potential fill for this one)
Entertainment or separately for Movies, Music, Theater, Books, Websites, etc.
Politics (not in the extreme, but covering timely issues)
Fashion
Club/Nightlife (any city)

All articles do not have to have a gay focus. I want the site to be “accessible” by anyone gay, gay friendly, questioning, etc.

I hope to hear from lots of you who want to show your stuff (well, not literally, but I do have another site for that…LOL)

Lee, the Webmaster

I will add a contact form to the site shortly for you to contact me. You’ll see it on the menu bar when I have it done.

The New Footloose. Reboot, Remake, What Is It?

I can’t decide how I feel about this. Footloose is an icon of my growing up. I know the movie scene by scene, song by song, dance move by dance move. I’ve driven down the road singing the songs at the top of my lungs, not a care in the world. I knew they were going to remake it, but below you’ll see the first trailer that has been released for the movie coming out this October. I was shocked that many of the pivotal scenes appear to be shot for shot remakes of the original. I thought it would be more updated to today’s audience, and while I do hear some “rappish” music in there, most everything still appears to be from the 80s. Even Ren’s car is the same. His dance in the barn/factory looks identical.

Having said that, I have to admit that it looks good and based on the trailer, I will definitely be seeing it. I do wish that Kevin Bacon had been given a cameo, or even played the role of the preacher (played by Dennis Quaid). It would have been interesting to see him come back 30 years later and play the opposite role from the original. The story goes that he was offered a cameo but wasn’t interested. Can’t say that I blame him, but the fans would have liked it…at least this one would have.

So what do you think based on the trailer? Check it out below:

Britney’s Back, Bitches!

And this time, it looks like she has got it right.  The song has a HOT dance beat, catchy hook and the video has hot stuff to look at, including a slightly heavier but still hot and openly gay, Guillermo Diaz (of Weeds fame).  Not to mention, Britney herself looks aMAzing!

Powerful Music Video from Rise Against – “Make It Stop”

To be honest, I had never heard of the band Rise Against until today. I saw a mention about their music video against homophobia and bullying, called “Make It Stop (September’s Children)” and had to take a look. I was blown away when I saw it, and they definitely have my attention now. It’s not the typical kind of music I listen to, but the message is so strong and the video so poignant and well-done that I will definitely be keeping my eyes and ears on their work.

The video is strong, and at times hard to watch, but the message is loud and clear. Lives are being lost and we will never know the impact those lives may have had on other lives. The one thing I find strkingly missing from the video is the catalyst that stopped each of the victims from taking their life. It makes it look as though they just changed their minds, and in reality, that almost never happens. I wish they had let us see someone stand up for them or say something to them that made the difference, because THAT is what it takes. Dan Savage also makes a cameo appearance at the end of the video.

Give it a look below!
